Yeah it's interesting to me that so many artists seem to be gravitating towards the more specifically "african" sounds of DJ Coublon at the moment when they're finally getting some diklas from the west - sounds that are far less suited for western dancefloors than azonto and the whole afrobeats wave of a few years ago when d'banj and don jazzy were on the verge of an international breakthrough.

It's still a very modest position, but something African music can only a dream of. Adding Soweto Baby to that list. They obviously know about it and apparently the Nigerian artists visit SA a lot for shows but you can't buy their CDs anywhere.

If Sicklas could afford to do that I'd be pissy about people not putting in the perceived necessary groundwork as well.
